July travels

Summer Road Trip 2013 consisted of taking off at 4 AM on July 3rd for Allendale, MO. 660 miles and 3 stops later we arrived. Jerex was wonderful in the car and on his best behavior! It was sort of a miracle that such an active guy was happy and content in the car for so long. And NO we did not drug him so he would be! Thank goodness for iPad Bubble Guppies shows. Minus a small speeding ticket in North Platte (Jesse was driving), it was a pretty uneventful drive, as driving across NE tends to be. Our McDonald's stop for coffee was interesting since I ordered a non-fat vanilla latte and as we are driving away I realized they forgot to put the actual espresso in the drink, it was all milk. I guess I shouldn't have gotten fancy with my coffee order in mid-Nebraska!

We had to do some changes in our plans due to Jesse's work - a big project due meant we had to shuffle our vacation around a bit. We stayed in MO for 1 night and then went to LaHarpe to see the Jones family 4th of July weekend, then back to MO where Jesse dropped Jerex and I off for the whole week of July 8th and then he kept driving back to CO. Even though we only were in MO for 1 short day up front, we made it to the Allendale 4th of July breakfast - always a good time (and good food).  Before driving, we had lunch at Grandma Betty's where Jerex and Brock had a jam session with the keyboard, and we got a nice squinty family photo.

In LaHarpe Jerex got to do a few of his favorite things, including swimming, riding in golf carts, playing with cousin Drake, and of course hanging out with Papa Jay and Gma Cathy. We went to the farm and saw Duane and Willa and did a few tractor and 4-wheeler rides, and overall had a great time with family.

Then, back in Allendale Jerex got to do some serious farming with Papa Burton!
