Well, I was wrong - I WASN'T pregnant forever!! I went into labor at 6:00 AM on January 4th, 2012. I ended up getting induced due to some high blood pressure readings at my 40 week checkup on the 3rd, so long story short - we decided to go for it on the 4th. After 18 1/2 hours of labor, Jerex Burton Jones arrived at 12:46 AM on January 5th. He was 8 lbs, 11 oz and 21 inches long - and an absolute perfect little angel! Labor sucked but as every pregnant woman eventually says - it was worth it! Jesse is a proud dad and was extremely supportive throughout that long tumultuous day, and we were both happy and exhausted when Jerex finally made his debut at the Boulder Community Foothills hospital. There is nothing that I have ever experienced that is quite like the birth process and then holding my baby - yes it was magical! "Happy" doesn't begin to describe the feeling! As you can see, he was perfect:
The time that we were in the hospital was such a blur. We struggled with basic communication skills quite a bit, that is what happens when you don't sleep for 48 hours! Jesse would pick up the phone to call the nurse and would either forget what we were calling about or not be able to speak in coherent sentences. Thankfully, the nurse usually just came to our room when we called and then we could point and use other non-verbals to help us get our message out. It was comical.
Here are the parent-bots:
As luck would have it, my mom had booked a flight to come to Boulder to visit the baby on January 4th so she also was there to welcome Jerex into the world!
We got to go home from the hospital on Saturday, January 7th. We had a nice mountain view from our room in the hospital:
Overall, it was a great experience and ultimately what was most important is that Jerex was happy and healthy and that made the sleep-deprived parents happy too!!
